Indeed, the all-new 2017 Honda Civic, completely redesigned last year, offers consumers more of what they want and expect in a compact vehicle.

The Honda Civic has been Canada’s most popular vehicle for nearly two decades, and the 2017 Honda Civic is well on its way to adding to the compact sedan’s impressive resume. Indeed, the all-new 2017 Honda Civic, completely redesigned last year, offers consumers more of what they want and expect in a compact vehicle. Perfectly balanced, the new Civic features a bold design, impressive safety features, two powerful yet fuel-efficient powertrains, and the very latest connectivity technology.

Two Engine Options in the 2017 Honda Civic

There are three versions of the 2017 Honda Civic available to consumers including the brand new Honda Civic Hatchback, but for this article we will focus on the sedan which was introduced to the market early last year.

The 2017 Honda Civic is available starting at $16,390 and is powered out of the gate by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 158 horsepower, and 138 lb.-ft. of torque.  This engine can be paired with either a six-speed manual transmission, or a continuously variable CVT automatic transmission. With the latter, average fuel economy is set at 7.0 liters per 100 kilometers while 2017 Civic models equipped with the manual transmission have an average fuel economy rating of 7.4 liters per 100 kilometers.

The other engine in the Civic family is a 1.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 174 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is paired exclusively with the CVT automatic transmission in the sedan model, and although it is very powerful, it has an average fuel consumption rating of 6.6 liters per 100 kilometers combined. Yes, this engine is more efficient than the entry-level powertrain despite the fact that it offers 26 more horsepower.

A Host of Standard and Optional Features in the 2017 Honda Civic

The 2017 Honda Civic sedan offers plenty of features including a standard remote entry system with an electronic trunk release and multi-angle rearview camera. Other features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, heated front seats, and automatic climate control, all for just $ 19,290 in the LX model.

The new Civic also includes plenty of impressive safety technology that we do not normally find on a compact sedan. These include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, road departure mitigation and collision mitigation. A remote engine starter, power sunroof, Honda LaneWatch blind spot monitoring (which features a camera beneath the right side mirror that displays an image of your blind spot on the central display), leather seats, LED headlights and navigation are some of the other available features on the 2017 Honda Civic.
